Bubble Emission Method (ASTM D3078)
This method is ideal for packages containing a headspace or some internal gas volume. The sample is placed in the C660B Leak Tester, submerged under water, and the chamber is subjected to a vacuum. The presence of air bubbles indicates a compromise or fault in the package seal or material.
Internal Pressurization Test (ASTM F2096, ISO 11607)
Typically utilized for detecting gross leaks in sensitive packaging, such as medical packaging. The package is internally pressurized with the C660M Leak and Seal Strength Detector. It is suitable for testing various flexible packages such as aseptic packages, plastic tamper-evident closures,and flexible tubes.
Nondestructive Leak Test (ASTM F2338 - Vacuum Decay Method)
This is a standard, non-destructive method for detecting leaks. The Labthink C690H is often used for batch testing of containers like vials and ampoules. The test works by analyzing pressure changes measured by a sensor over time; leak rates and other results are calculated based on the rate of vacuum decay within the test chamber.
